mono / mona

Standard

blonde      [noun & adj]

(literally:  monkey / female monkey)

Example
Fueron a la Candelaria en búsqueda de monas.
They went to the Candelaria in search of blonde girls.
Una mona y sus micos.

Una mona y sus micos.

Everywhere else:  rubio / rubia

Despite what they teach you in Spanish class, the word rubio is just never used in Colombia.  Rubios are monos, and the threshold is low — even light brown-haired people like me are monos here.  Monkeys, or monos in most of the Spanish world, are thus robbed of their title and called micos.
